Welcome to my homepage, glad to have you visit me here on the web. I am a middle years educator in rural southern Manitoba, Canada. I completed my B.Ed. in early childhood education at the University of Regina in 2007. I took my first job teaching Grade 6 in Garden Valley School Division and found that I love teaching middle years!
I enjoy middle years because of the students' curiosity and independence. I often feel that I am more of a facilitator than a teacher. This age group is always willing to help out, from everyday tasks such as posting the class puzzle or changing the calendar, to more complex tasks like teaching MS Word to first and second graders.
Since I began teaching in Manitoba I have become involved with the LwICT (Literacy with Information and Communication Technology) Implementation Team, which assists other educators in understanding LwICT best practices in Manitoba. I am also very involved with the change to assessment practices in my division as a member of the Report Card Committee.
